My Loving Mother's Day

17/5/2019

This week we have been writing about Mother's day and this is what I wrote about Mother's day.




On Sunday 12th of May it was a special day because… because…. IT WAS MOTHER'S DAY and how we were celebrating it was with a mini family feast with a short amount of people. We have Mother’s Day to appreciate all the times our mother has done for us. What I did on Mother’s Day was that I did nothing. The father’s had to cook the food. The place we had the event was at home and the people that were there was my brother’s, Ifalame and the oldest one who I don’t want to say, my little baby cousin, uncle, auntie and my parents. Also those were the people who came to the special day mother’s day, and what we did was watching the food getting cooked because I was a hungry monster wanting to eat. Then  after that it was the moment you’ve been waiting for….. A MOTHER’S DAY CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!. When it was mother’s day people felt happy also the mother’s cause they were lucky because that was about them.

Reindeer Word Search

This week we were writing on a word search paper about Santa's Reindeer's. I found it interesting because when I was trying to find it I struggled.

Here is an example of my writing about the Reindeer Word Search word search.

Reindeer Word Search Today we were writing a word search about Santa's reindeer's. How I found the words was that I looked below at the names of them and I tried to find them on the word search. Some of the names I haven’t heard before but I never gave up and kept hunting for it. Just like how Mia and Flynn were looking for the queen of Egypt which is queen Hatsheput. Some of the words were tricky because they were written upside down. Also we we saw it side to side and all the words were MIXED UP!. I found the small letter ones first because it was more easier to find. But the big letter like reindeer was hard to search for.

How To Get Ready for Christmas Eve

This week we have been writing a procedural. It is about when you tell someone what to do. I found it interesting how we could use bossy words like do and put and other things.

How To Get Ready for Christmas Eve



What to Do: Make cookies and milk for santa and carrots for the reindeers. Family feast

You need: Christmas tree and presents also lights. Decoration,candy cane,and the star at the top. 


1: I will make sure that I will get ready for christmas eve.

2: Check if your christmas tree is stacked propoley.

3: After you do your christmas tree you can put some lights.

4: Then you can put some decorations like candy canes.

5: Put a shiny star on top of you fabulous christmas tree.

6: Make sure your cookies are not burnt because santa will HATE! them.

7: Make sure when you give milk to santa it doesn’t have to be EXPIRED!.

 8: put presents under the tree

9: open the presents that belong to you.

10: When you put the ham in the oven don’t make it burn or smoke.

11: When you cook the food it could be delicious.

12: After you have ate the family feast you can then eat some fancy cake.

The Starving Reindeer

This week we have writing a persuasion. It is when you change peoples minds. It was about why does reindeer's need food. I found it interesting because last week our teacher showed us a video about it.

Here is an example about my persuasion.


          The Starving Reindeer

I believe Reindeers need food because they carry father christmas a lot.

First reason is that the reindeers do hard work too much because, they keep on flying around at night and they need food to make them powered up. When they go to houses they have to carry heaps of presents and that will make there back hurt. Reindeers should deserve food because they carry Father christmas too much.

Second reason is that when reindeers move around like a bird, but more bigger  sometimes they get hungry and they run out  of ENERGY!. So they need lots of yummy  carrots. When They stop at a house they rest  for a little while, then santa comes and then  porely fly away. 


Third reason is that when santa goes to  houses he eats too much COOKIES AND MILK, and the reindeers just ge nothing but wind. Then when they fly they nearly fall down because this time santa ate even more. Then they go around without stopping.

THERE'S BREAKING NEWS IN NEW ZEALAND! and it is about Santa and I am talking about the real one with the flying REINDEER's , and guess what sometimes he doesn’t fit inside the chimney because he eats to much cookies, and he drinks too much milks. But when he comes out he gets STUCK. Then when he squeezes out the reindeer's make a happy face because they thought that Santa had some nice treats like carrots. After that when he comes up the reindeer's were so excited but then Santa said” sorry there's no carrots”, then the reindeer's burst with tears because they were so tired and hungry. 
When they go to another house the chair Santa sits on. It scrapes on the wall. Then when Santa went inside he thought about the reindeer's being so tired and hungry, and running out of energy. After that when, he looked out the window…he saw MCDONALDS so he went there and he asked the people if he could have some carrots and they said ”for who”. After that Santa said “it’s for my flying reindeer's” Then everyone was so surprised that it was the real Santa so they were normal. After that Santa went back up the chimney and then when he went near the reindeer's he opened the sack and then he said to the reindeer's “merry Christmas”. After that the reindeer's were so happy that they were happy like a dancing donkey.

The Day I Saved The El Dorado

This week we have been writing about a story. But first our teacher had to tell us that story, then we imagine what it's going to be about and then we write about it. I found it interesting how we could imagine the story we wanted to write about.

Here is an example of my story about the day I saved the El Dorado.

The Day I Saved The El Dorado

One day I was walking around El Dorado when I saw a group of children fighting then I went to solve that big problem. Then I backed up because all of the parents came rushing to the children and they got a stick and kept waking them until they cried. After that I went back to my golden kingdom. At night time I went to sleep until people from the Spanish team came, shooting with there mighty guns. Then when they saw El Dorado they kept getting people out of there houses and tied them with ropes. After that the entire city was captured except me by those greedy Spanish People. Then after the Spanish army left one of them said “their gold is over there” then the other one said “we will get it tomorrow”. When I got out of my kingdom I was worried because everyone was covered in so much blood and they were tied up. Then I freed them but it was the morning and everyone was tired but there blood was dry. After that I had to go to the river to get some water to make there blood come off. Then I, The golden man, said ”we should prepare tonight for the Spanish People”. Then it was afternoon and we worked together as a team then we got some rocks and get some of my golden dust and put it on. Then at that night they put all of there fake gold in a wheelbarrow and gave it to the Spanish people, and then they said “well that was easy”. Then when they left me and my city celebrated. Then when the Spanish people went back to their base and one of them dropped the gold, then it cracked then they saw black in it and they went super mad. But it was past midnight so they had to sleep. Then in the next morning in El Dorado all the people were hungry and they asked me if, I could get them food but there was no more weapons. Then I got some of the people to help me create weapons so we made some spears,bows and arrows then we got poisonous frogs to go with the bowen arrow. Then we caught food for them. At night time everyone went dead asleep but I didn’t because I had to keep in eye if the Spanish people came back. So some of my soldiers helped me. We kept super quite like a sneaky ninja and then we suddenly heard footsteps coming out of the bushes. Then the Spanish People came and they wanted revenge then me and my soldiers got our arrows and the poisonous frog. But some of them survived and then they ran away. But it was lucky Because I had a pet that was jaguar and then it had to chase the survivors and get them and bring them back to me. So I can see why they came here. When I asked them why they came they just said “we came because we wanted your gold”. But I said 


“YOU CAN’T TAKE OUR GOLD OR ELSE MY PET WILL EAT YOU BECAUSE HE IS HUNGRY”. After that it was night time and my pet was hungry so I gave the Spanish people to it.

How To Play Basketball

This week we have been writing how to play basketball because every Tuesday coaches come and teach us about it. Then they will tell us the rules how to play it. I found it interesting because in basketball you can have fun and never give up, even doe you don't know how to do it.

When you play basketball it's a little bit tricky because you have to learn heaps of things like dribbling,stunts and two step. if you you want balance your shot you can use the beef I know that sounds like the meat but it’s not. B stands for balance, E stands for your elbow because when you shoot it you have to bend it, Then the other E stands for your eyes because if you don’t look at the square in the hoop you could miss a shot, F the last letter stands for focus because when you try to make a shot, you have to look at the hoop to make a shot in it so it could make a score for your team. When you practice a move in basketball like two step it might sort of look tricky because when you dribble twice then you have to make two big steps then a big jump and shoot it in the hoop.

When you play basketball you can’t dribble the ball then pick it up because that’s called double dribble. Also when you play basketball you can’t hold the ball and run with it because it’s a travel. A travel is like when you hold the ball for too long and then you have hand over to hand over to the other team. In basketball you can use some of the skills you learnt and use them to beat the other team. When you use the skills you learnt you could improve how good you are in basketball.

Construction Day

On Friday construction people came to our school to teach us how they build things. It was interesting because we got to have heaps of fun.

Here is an example of my writing about our construction day.

Construction Day
Today we went constructing and there were three things to do like digging a gigantic trench in the relaxing sandpit  and put a pipe in it. Then we dig the sand back in it. The next one is how builders put the pipes together and how to work it by putting water in it. The last one was in the hall and Matt the person who had to teach us about his robot. But he had to pick volunteers and the people still sitting in the hard rocky ground had to measure the hole school. But it was three classes that had to do the constructions. First Rosser house second Room 10 and last was Room 13. 




The first place to go was the sand pit. There was Three instructors to help us. First thing they had to pick two volunteers on boy and one girl. There job was to check if the people are safe with the shovels because the people might in real pain. First people with the sharp end of the shovel had to dig a humongous hole because they had to put the longest pipe in but first, they had to share because people out of the sandpit had a RAKE! So they had to give it. But when I was digging I just found the GROUND!. So I had to put the sand back and dig another hole then I had to pass it on to another person. Then when people kept digging and digging until they found something and it was just a HOUSE! That had to make a sand castle. Then we had to move onto another activity.





The next construction activity was how to make pipe. First there was two different instructors that were telling us how to use a pipe. First they told us how they make a pipe that will work. Then we had to go in groups to make a pipe, first they drawed a pipe in the board so we could make it. Then after that we had to get very DIRTY WATER so we could pore it in the pipe so it could fill the bucket up. The hours WORKED! But then they drawed another one in the board and that confused me so my partners helped me. But in that one we had to work FAST! Because heaps of the groups were beating us so we tried our best. But then it was the final one and it was a little bit hard but we never gave up and still got it. Everyone DASHED to the water and there was no more for us so we poured the water inside the cup ran to the pipe and poured it in and then it WORKED!. Then we had to move onto the last activity.
















The final activity was surveying and it is when construction people measure the size of how big is the building going to be. But there was three instructors to help us and one of them are called Matt and he told us if we seen his robot before. First they gave us a picture of the hole school so we could measure it. Then they told us about that red dot and they turned it on and then it pointed up. Then it told them what number it was and it was 5 meters. Then they turned on the robot and Matt was walking right and that time the robot was following. After that the bell ran so we had to go line up and march back to class.

Have-A-Go-Day

This week we have writing about our Have-A-Go-Day. it is like when you have a go on any sports and having fun and it doesn't matter if you win because it is all about having fun. I really enjoyed writing about it because when we went to Have-A-Go-Day it was very fun.

Here is an example of my writing of Have-A-Go-Day.

                         Have-A-Go-Day
 On Friday we had awesome Have-A-Go-Day It is when you can have fun or have a go on any sport you can play. We went to Keith Hay Park to play games like Soccer,Gymnastic,Ripper Rugby,Ki-o-Rahi and the final game TUG OF WAR!. 


The First hard game we played was Ki-o-Rahi in it there was two teams and it was Ki uma and Taniwha. The Ki uma team had to touch the poles and go to the middle and touch a try, but if the taniwha team ripped there tags of, they would have to pass it to there other person in there team. The taniwha had to try hit the tupu but there had to be two defenders from the Ki uma to block there throw. Then someone from the other team would come and rip your tag of then you pass it to you team mate. I felt exhausted because  of all the hard running made my legs noddley. Then after a women rang the horn and it was so loud like an elephant screaming.




The next amazing activity was GYMNASTICS!. When we went inside first we had to take of our shoes off then we went inside the giant place where they do the gymnastics. First we had to the obstacle course the hard one of all of them was the SPONGE PIT! In it I kept sinking and it had my name all over the sponges and it felt like I was climbing mt Everest because it was so hard. In the SPONGE PIT! I couldn’t breath because the smell was horrible but lucky I climbed out. The next obstacle was a trampoline and when I was jumping I felt I was flying high. The next one was to swing backwards. Then we had to swing then land. The next one was a beam it is when you balance but we had to put one leg up and one leg down. Then we do a perfect land. Next we went on a different trampoline and it was so long like someone eating a long subway. Then we had to climb and do another obstacle and we had to jump on a trampoline and it felt like I was jumping like a kangaroo. Then we had to climb of because we had to do another activity then we had to get out and put on our shoes then line up at the door.


Next awesome game was RIPPER RUGBY!. Our was Coach was Jim. The team we were vs was HILLSBOROUGH TIGERS! And they painted their face like a tiger like the whiskers they have but we came out of nowhere and we were called the WOLVES! Awoooooooooo!. In one of the matches we lost because there was a tall person helping but he was from there school. When we played we had to wear belts and we had to wear tags like in the Ki o rahi. Sometimes people had to step the other kids so they couldn’t catch them in running. In the Hillsborough team they had a DASHING FAST KID and his name was SPENCER!. Then after that at the end It was The FINAL MATCH! And it was MAY ROAD SCHOOL! VS HILLSBOROUGH And HILLSBOROUGH WON!. Then we had to change games.



The next fun game was FOOTBALL! And it is soccer. The next hard school to vs was St Therese Cheetahs. They were hard to use because they had good soccer players. They were the only ones who got goals and we tried but they kept getting it of us. It was lucky because the coach was joining our team to help us. We had to wear little green jackets and the other team they perfect normal sized jackets. But when the coach had the ball the other team got it of her. Then they had to kick off because they got a goal. Since then they kept getting goals. Finally we nearly got a goal but then someone came out of nowhere and got it then he kicked it to his players. Then they got goals again and again until the game finished then they rang the horn in May Road School went AWWW!. They were so close of getting a goal but they rang the horn. Then after that we had to play the final game.





The Final Game was TUG OF WAR! When we were waiting everybody was WHOA when it happened we had to pull hard as we could like two lions fighting each other and we won. But in the next round we lost because there was a very tall person. On the next round there were strong kids pulling hard as they could and they won. But in the next round we nearly won. Next was a hard and challenging school and when the the horn rang we had to start pulling both of the school were trying their best but they won. At least May Road tried their best. THEN IT WAS THE FINAL ROUND!, When May Road Standed up they were too tired to do the final round so they never gave up and then we kept trying and trying but then we LOST! But it was ok because we still had fun. Then we had to have a break and we cool refreshing water and we had something yum to eat. 


Then we had to get our masks and sit down because they were going to call out the people who gets there certificate.  Also they would get prizes but sport ones but it had to be one person from each school then after that we had to go and head back to school. There were 3 vehicles There were the school van, Ms petrus’s van and last Kevin's van.

FIREWORKS SHOULD BE BANNED!

This week we have writing a persuasion. it is what you think to change other peoples minds. I have been writing fireworks should be banned. I really enjoyed writing about it because I could write why we should banned fireworks.

I think fireworks should be banned because it could disturb the neighbours when they sleep.


The first reason is that fireworks are dangerous, because they could go the wrong direction and burn houses down, and it might hurt kids when they go to close. When the kids go close to the fireworks they might sniff the smoke and they might run out of air.
        

The second reason is that it is a waste of money because it could cause heaps of damage. It could burn peoples trees down when it fell down it had its name all over the ground, and if they will bring a baby they might cry because of the loud banging noise.


The third reason is that the animals will get scared and runaway and the owner has to catch it before it will get lost, they might also get hurt when they run around and they will run into the fireworks. The animals might go back in there pet house because they will feel frightened.

The Fastest Cross Country Ever

\














On term 3 we our a cross country, it is like when you race AROUND YOUR WHOLE SCHOOL!. But this one was 400 METERS!. First year group by year group had to take turns on running, but first the girls had to go then the boys. After that we came back to the school court, then we had to go out the gate way and have ANOTHER LAP AROUND THE SCHOOL!. After the children had to race on the field, we had to do two laps. After we did two laps we had to run through the goal post then we got to the finish line there. Then the principle had to check if you came third second or first.

At the end of term 3 we painted our sarcophagus, it is like an Egyptian way of saying coffin. That is where they put pharaohs in. 


On term 3, Room 13 made our own sarcophagus witch is a coffin, we had to paint it because it was part of our learning. First we had to paint brown so we could let it dry in the hot sun. After that we had to paint it any colour but it had to be White,Black,Gold,Blue,Red,Purple,Orange and another brown. After we had to paint it we had to dry it for a few hours then we could staple it in the wall so it could be curtains.

The Adventures Of The Mayan Marvel

This week we have been learning how to write a description. It is when describe a picture. I really enjoyed writing about it because it could help me in my learning of describing things.

The scared looking Flynn and Mia are trapped inside a cell with a policeman that was so suspicious. 

The policeman was wearing his police uniform and in it was a comb to make  him handsome and keys to lock people up in prison and he looked so suspicious because he was just looking at Flynn and Mia only. He was wearing sunglasses inside the cell. The policeman’s face was angry because his eyebrows looked down . His nose was giant and his mustache was looking weird.  

Mia was sitting on a table wearing a vest and a smooth necklace made with leather rope. She also had a shiny watch attached to her arm. She looked worried for uncle earl because he was missing.
Flynn was sitting on a table wearing striped black and white t shirt. He also had a shiny watch attached to his arm like Mia. He looked scared because of the horrible face from the awful policeman. Flynn was nervous because the face on the grumpy policeman was suspicious and he was looking angry because he maybe wanted the real truth so he could not believe them. So Flynn had to think away to find uncle Earl.

The Emerald Elf





last week on Wednesday the emerald elf came into our class to give us amazing prizes. The prizes was for the people who bought their holiday reading logs back. When the emerald elf said to get a toy everyone came crowding in so I went last. My prize was a mini soccer ball that was so SQUISHY. Before we had to get a prize we had to get a certificate from the amazing emerald elf. Inside the case there was thousands of toys in it but we only had to get one to have.

My Fantastic Holiday

This week we have been writing a recount about our holiday. A recount is something that has already happened. In my recount I put in awesome adjectives and similes so it could make my writing interesting for the reader.

                               
                               Friday    

On Friday me and my brothers relaxed like lazy Koalas in the lounge to watch a amazing movie called Freaky Friday. It was about people switching body's. During The movie we had delicious snacks like chips.  We had cuddly blankets to make us warm and comfortable. When we watched the movie I felt lonely because I was on the ground and the others were on the couch.

                              Saturday

On Saturday night there was a BIG GAME! against Kiwis and KangaroosAfter that our amazing baby cousins came over so they could watch the BIG GAME!. Our baby cousins were screaming cause I was making a face to them and they just ran away. My Dad was cheering so loud for the Kiwis because they won. He was so loud like a elephant screaming in my EARS!. During the amazing game we ate DELICIOUS! snacks like CHOCOLATE and CHIPS.
After the game we went to sleep I couldn’t sleep because my Dad was snoring so loud like a LION ROARING!. 



                              
                              Sunday


On Sunday we had to clean our house so shiny like the sun looking at us. We had to clean the house because guests were coming over to have DELICIOUS 
Tongan food.  It was so SAD because me and my brothers had to sit in the BLAZING HOT Sun! because our parents told us to. But we had  ICY
ice cream to cool us down in the blazing hot sun. When we ate the freezing cold ice cream it was melting so we had to go sit in the warm and comfortable shade. After that one of our guests gave us two Tongan flags to put it on our car.

     The fantastic VR inside the chamber



On term 3 Kevin came in again with the VR but it is about walking around the chamber. I have really enjoyed looking around the chamber because I could look at the hieroglyphics and it felt like I was actually there. When we used the other one we couldn't walk but in this one we could walk. this time we could have 3 minutes! because could explore the chamber more. When I had a turn I was very amazed because it was my very first time walking around the chamber!. I saw heaps of things like hieroglyphics and symbols. Also pictures of Egyptian people. I saw pictures of pharaohs on the wall and I kept going inside the same spot and I saw gods like Anubis. when it was dark inside the chamber we could turn on the flash light with the controller. When I was looking around it was like I was going in circles then I was about to get dizzy because the screen was bleary. I felt terrified because It was very DARK! After that when I put the head set of I felt very very DIZZY!.

A report about mummies

This week we have been learning how to write another report but it is about mummies. Mummies are like dead kings and queens. I have used scary words like terrifying and other things. I really enjoyed  writing about it because it would help me researching about it then getting ideas in our mind.

Here is an example of my report on mummies.

         Mummies are like buried queens and kings and the other egyptian people just get buried underneath the sand.
Mummies cannot! protect us because they stay inside the sarcophagus which is a coffin .


Anubis is a priest that wears a jackal mask because they wear it for a ceremony and he is the god of embalming the dead.


 They get a knife to get the organs out. They get the hook to get the brain out by pulling the brain from the nose and then they throw it away and they leave the heart because they think it will be 

important. Then they put them in the canopic jars. A canopic jar is where you put the body parts in like the stomach, intestines, liver and lungs but they put it in different jars.Then they put water like nile water or wine on the body then they will put natron salt on them. They use the salt to make the body last longer. After 40 days it will dry. Then they wrap them with strips of material. 



After there are done they put them inside a coffin witch is called a sarcophagus inside a secret chamber and it’s under the pyramid.

The awesome virtual reality

Last week we wrote about virtual reality it is goggles but bigger and when you put something inside it then it will look real.





I have used information from the virtual reality to my writing.

I really enjoyed using the virtual reality because when we look around it inside it then it will look real and it feels like your there. 

Here is an example of my writing about the virtual reality .


When kevin came in he came with the headsets. After that we had to take turns going on it. When we put it on it felt like we were actually their inside the chamber in Egypt. We had to wait because they had to use it to look inside it because they can explore around the chamber. When it was my turn I looked around the chamber and it felt like I was there around the slaves. I even saw a pharaoh that looked creepy because it was gigantic. I saw a slave with a torch in front of it. When I looked up I saw beautiful stars everywhere. We had to have a turn with it for 1 minute so it could be fair for the others to have a turn to. When we had turns inside the virtual reality Kevin he wrote words around so we could find it.
