My Adventures🤓 Throughout The Museum

Bonjour fellow viewers,

Welcome back to another looooong and amazing blog post. On Wednesday 4th Nov our class had to the Museum🥳. So we could learn about the history of some gallery's we went to like the Origin Gallery where the Dinos are. What I enjoyed while I was in the Museum is that I got to discover new things I never heard of before. What I learnt is that I got to learn new things because we already new some things about some gallery's but we got to learn more. What I found interesting is that we got to learn and experienced, how the things there actually worked. Like there was an volcano room and the ground shook like an earthquake so that is what I experienced. What I found challenging is that the new things we discovered at the Museum we had to write about it on a google docs. I really enjoyed writing about it.

Hope you enjoy

On a cloudy Wednesday Room 15 was prepared to go out on a trip to the one and only….. Auckland Museum!!!!. We couldn’t just leave yet because The Whole Kauri team had to come. That is of course, Rm 14, Rm,11, and Rm 12. We were put in groups, I was lucky because I got to be with my friend. It was Me=(Daniel), Garv, Mubarak, Robert, Aryan, and Nikhil. We had to put our lunchboxes in one bag and that was pretty hard. We had to remove the things that were inside the bag. Before we left, everyone in my class had to have Morning Tea first. What I had was crunchy rice crackers as my snack. After that the bus was here at about 10:00 Am.

We were ready to go, I was so excited. When we were in our groups we had to get paired up with a partner. My partner was Garv. When we got on the bus and went to our seats. I was lucky because I was  next to the window, and Garv was next to me quite sad. When the bus went off it looked pretty cool cause we were passing some houses and beautiful trees on the way there. The drive was so long that I felt like I was going to sleep but my friend made a joke and made me laugh.

Me and my friend were just making jokes until we arrived. So when the bus had arrived. The Museum was so GIGANTIC!!!!!!! that it looked like standing in front of the Sky tower but the Sky Tower is bigger though. Auckland Museum | Activities & Tours in Auckland, New ZealandIt was so big that I wanted to see it more because I was super duper excited. Everyone got together and sat on the stairs because the hosts of the Museum were going to talk to us. They were greeting us first then telling us they like no eating and no drinking inside the Museum. When the hosts were finished talking that's when our adventure started.

When we went inside it looked so awesome that I felt like going on my own. Garv had to lock up his bag in a cage to keep it secured so no one would have stolen it. We were on the Ground floor and we were about to go to Lvl 1. When we got up the long huge stairs we came across Sir Edmund Hillary the guy who was on the 5$ note, We saw his pickaxe but it was fake anyways.

We went up to the Origin exhibition on floor 1 where the dinosaurs and fossils were. There were dinosaurs with bones, One of the hosts said that the bones aren’t real they are just made out of plastic. We saw the giant Moa, the host said they don’t actually look like that. The fluffy feathers are really Ostrich feathers which completely shocked me. We saw Rajah the Elephant and he was really humongous. Origins - Level one - Auckland War Memorial MuseumThe history of Rajah - Blog - Auckland War Memorial Museum

Land - Level one - Auckland War Memorial Museum

We went into the Land exhibition next, on floor 1. Where the birds, insects and the reptiles. When we were in that place it was really cool because we got to see the eggs of some birds like the Kiwi. We also saw a cave which we went inside and it was really creepy but we saw a slug which looked really yuck. We went out and walked in where the sea creatures were like a ferocious shark. It had really sharp teeth. We were heading out and seeing what we were going to do next.

Next we left to the Volcano exhibition but instead we went inside the

Auckland Museum's Lost Civilisation – EyeContactAncient Worlds on floor 1. We weren't supposed to go in there but we did for a girl in our class (Shamili) It is basically Egyptian stuff like the Mummy which had an Sarcophagus (It's like an Egyptian coffin for the  Royals). We saw the jewels and pots and more and it looked pretty cool.

Volcanoes - Level one - Auckland War Memorial Museum

Finally we arrived at the Volcano exhibition on floor 1. We had seen a big volcano that had like lava coming down, and ash making the clouds grey but it was fake anyways. We saw a rock and it could play music because we had to bang it with a rubber hammer and it was awesome. There was a house and we had to wait in line to go inside because there was something that was going to happen in there. When it was our turn we had gone inside and sat down and the TV just turned automatically. It told us the news about the Volcano under the sea, while they were talking the lights started flickering. Then the ground started to shake and rumble, the signal of the TV turned off. Suddenly it was so dark that it looked like night time already, an explosion had happened and the waves forced towards the house and it cracked the window. The ground shook again and everything went back to normal and we got out and moved on to the next exhibition.Travelogue: Auckland - Jonathan Lee

The next exhibition we went to was the Pacific Life-ways on the ground floor. That’s where some of the Pacific artifacts and old weapons were. We also had seen a huge Canoe

that I felt like hoping on. We saw some paintings like a Tapa Cloth which was awesome because it was made by hand from the Pacifica not only that but the design and the patterns were just so, so coooool. After that we moved on to the next gallery.

The next gallery was the Māori Natural History on floor 1.

Maori-nh 560

That’s where the Māori artifacts were placed and we saw different kinds of objects like wood carvings and more. There were also some birds and insects while at it. There were also some big statues and they were way bigger than you think and they had carvings as well. I was walking around then I noticed that I wasn’t with my group and ended up in another group because so excited I went off. Eventually I got back and we all moved on to the next gallery.

The next exhibition was at the Māori Court on the Ground floor.

We saw a lot of Māori artifacts and much much more we got to see Maori weapons and some gear that helped them arrive in New Zealand in the old days. There were so many artifacts I couldn’t count them all. There was a Marae which some people went inside, but before they went in they had to take their shoes off. I didn’t go in but I did stay outside and saw some really detailed design patterns around the Marae. We saw a big canoe but not only was it really long. It’s because the lots and lots of Māori came on it and they came to

New Zealand 🇳🇿🇳🇿. We had to leave for our last gallery for the day which was really really sad😢. I wanted to see more😢 but I couldn’t.

For the last gallery we went to see was the Pacific Masterpieces.

For this gallery we had seen our culture artifacts like there was an

Tongan aisle, Samoan aisle, Fijian aisle, Niuean aisle and much more. For some of them they had like jewels and some of them had like culture clothes and some incredible weapons like spears. There were also some photos of them too and there was the third canoe I had seen and after we had to leave to have some lunch.

So when we had lunch I ate delicious nutella bread and some yogurt. When we finished we got to play on the fields and it was pretty fun. Me and my friends See-me Tauni Mapa were playing catches with a ball. After lunch we had to get ready to say bye to the museum because we had to leave to go back to school. When we got back to school we were playing some Prodigy until we got to go home.
